The Europeans first made contact with the indigenous people in 1770. When James Cook arrived in Australia it was estimated that there where about three hundred thousand Aboriginals. The Europeans did not use Australia as a colony by taking out wealth, but they used the land of the aboriginals as a penal colony. The English men shipped prisoners from the over crowded jails in England to Australia.

The white man forced the aboriginals of their land and made them move longer and longer away form their home place. The white man did also bring with them deices that the aboriginals didn’t have the immune system to handle The Englishmen did also force them further, and further away from their homeland.

The Australian- European said that it would be clever for the Aboriginals to move away and into settlements. Where they weren’t in the way for the Europeans.
